The Green ARTery helped with installing new planting and mulching around the newly restored Ulele Spring, part of the new Waterworks Park downtown in Tampa Heights. Along with many other organizations, 10 members of the Green ARTery team helped to plant native tidal grasses, mangroves, and other erosion control plants to beautify and restore the natural ecosystem around the spring. Mayor Bob Buckhorn stopped by, and the Green ARTery president, Faye Miller, presented him with a Green ARTery t-shirt. The Waterworks Park is a part of the Green ARTery trail, and so the completion of this park is a big step forward in the completion of the trail. The grand opening of the new Waterworks park is expected later this summer. The park also features Ulele Restaurant, run by the owners of the Columbia, which will feature one of Tampa’s only riverfront dining experiences.
